OUR PLATFORM
Metalmark began with a simple idea: what if we changed the way air filtration works by repurposing structures already found in nature?
Ethereal, whimsical, and beautiful, a butterfly's wings are not just a wonder of art but also a marvel of engineering. Strong but lightweight, porous but hydrophobic, the true genius of design is in the remarkable optical properties that give butterfly wings their iridescence.
Recognizing the potential of the micron-scale honeycomb matrix to serve as a framework for additional functionalization, our team spent over 5 years re-engineering the nanostructures found in a butterfly’s wings to incorporate catalytic functions using catalytic nanoparticles, resulting in a new type of material platform.
CLEANER AIR
From the time air filters were first introduced to market, the underlying science has remained fundamentally the same. Air is forced through an inert material that traps debris or particles of various sizes. Trapped matter gradually fills up the filter, diminishing its effectiveness and forming a reservoir of pollutants.
We are revolutionizing the very concept of air purification by building a product that won't fail after a few months and won't re-release pollutants or serve as a safe harbor for viruses, bacteria, or mold.
By neutralizing pathogens and toxins as well as refreshing the filter in place, our system is the first to be self-renewing, meaning it neither fills up nor breaks down rapidly as a result of normal use.
